About Us
The Heart Behind the Work
Pure Balance was created to be a different kind of clinic, one where you’re seen, heard, and truly cared for. We know what it’s like to be overlooked in a system that moves too fast and listens too little. Here, your care is personal, not protocol-driven.
We don’t believe in quick fixes or one-size-fits-all plans. We believe in understanding what’s happening beneath the surface, and addressing it with intention.
Our approach is grounded in education, collaboration, and real support. We take time to listen, look at your labs in context, and explain what your body is telling us, in language that makes sense.
Whether you’re navigating hormone shifts, working toward sustainable weight loss, or just trying to feel like yourself again, care at Pure Balance is designed to evolve with you.
Above all, we value honesty and partnership. You won’t be rushed. You won’t be dismissed. You’ll be informed, empowered, and supported — every step of the way. This is care, the way it should be.
Our Core Values
Integrity
We believe in doing what’s right for our patients, not what’s easiest or most convenient. Clinical decisions are guided by honesty, evidence, and a commitment to your long-term well-being.
Clarity
Healthcare shouldn’t feel confusing or overwhelming. We focus on clear communication, thoughtful education, and helping you understand your options so you can make informed decisions about your care.
Connection
Trust matters. We value meaningful patient-provider relationships built on listening, collaboration, and ongoing communication throughout your care journey.

Ashley Lowden, CRNP
Hi! I’m Ashley, and I’m so glad you’re here. I genuinely love getting to know all of you and hearing your stories. That connection is one of the biggest reasons I chose healthcare. As a nurse practitioner, I’ve always been drawn to the why behind symptoms. I’m naturally curious and continuously learning, especially when it comes to hormones, metabolism, and how the body functions as a whole. I love reviewing labs, connecting patterns, and helping patients finally understand what’s happening beneath the surface.
Pure Balance was created because I wanted to practice medicine differently, without rushed appointments, dismissed symptoms, or one-size-fits-all protocols. I believe healthcare should feel collaborative and empowering, not confusing or overwhelming.
After more than 10 years working in a variety of healthcare settings, one thing has always stood out to me: learning, and even more so, the opportunity to educate. Building Pure Balance has allowed me to create a space where there’s time for education, questions are always welcomed, and understanding your care is just as important as the treatment itself.
Outside of the clinic, I really try to practice what I preach. I love working out in our garage gym and staying active. Baseball season is one of my favorite times of the year, especially getting to watch my boys play, it never gets old.
Pure Balance is truly a family effort. My husband, Michael, helped get the clinic up and running and works alongside me here, and I honestly wouldn’t have it any other way. He brings so much value to our team and to the culture we’ve built.
Fun fact: I love all things Harry Potter (Hufflepuff forever), and video games are my go-to way to disconnect.

Cari Talton, RN
Hey, I’m Cari. I’ve spent my entire career in healthcare, and what I’ve always loved most is caring for people as a whole and not just treating symptoms. I started working in healthcare right out of high school as a CNA in long-term care, and over the years I’ve worked in urgent care, family medicine, and the Medical ICU. Each role shaped how I approach patient care today and deepened my appreciation for listening, patience, and advocacy.
I earned my Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Snead State Community College and am currently working toward my Bachelor’s degree. I was drawn to Pure Balance because of its focus on wellness, education, and truly individualized care. Being part of a team that values taking time with patients and helping them understand their health is incredibly meaningful to me.
Outside of the clinic, I love slowing life down and spending time with my family. Gardening, hiking, and fishing are some of my favorite things to do in my off time.
Fun fact: I was on the archery team in high school.

Michael Lowden
Hey, I’m Michael. At Pure Balance, I handle the front desk and a lot of the day-to-day stuff that keeps the clinic running smoothly. I manage scheduling, help with IVs, medication coordination, and billing, and I do my best to keep the vibe positive for everyone. I want every person who walks in to feel welcomed, taken care of, and actually listened to.
Before this, I spent 25 years in construction, working in plumbing, electrical, framing, and even 18th-century timber framing. It was hands-on, problem-solving work, and it taught me how to stay calm, adaptable, and focused and surprisingly, those are skills that carry over really well into healthcare. If you would have told me a couple years ago that I would be in scrubs and working at medical clinic, I would have laughed in your face.
What matters most to me is making sure people feel heard and cared for. I try to show up calm, friendly, and steady, so patients feel comfortable and supported throughout their visit.
Outside of work, I love hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. But more than anything, my family is my biggest priority and what drives me to be a good father, husband, son, and friend.
Fun fact: I’m kind of obsessed with mushrooms. If there’s a fungus conversation happening, I’m probably in it.

Michelle McLain, MA
Hi, I’m Michelle. I’m a medical assistant at Pure Balance, and honestly, what I enjoy most about being here is the people, both the patients and the team. I was drawn to Pure Balance because wellness care is where I feel I can make the biggest difference. Taking time to listen, support patients, and be part of care that actually helps people feel better is what I love most about my role.
Before joining Pure Balance, I worked as a medical office manager at a wellness clinic and also spent several years working in the hospital setting. That experience helped shape how I care for patients today: staying organized, paying attention to details, and making sure nothing gets overlooked.
Patient care is really important to me. I want everyone to feel welcomed, listened to, and supported from the moment they walk in. I try to bring a friendly smile and a careful, detail-oriented approach so patients feel confident in the care they’re receiving.
Outside of work, I love spending time with my son, especially watching him play sports. When we’re winding down, nothing beats a good movie, popcorn, and some quality time together.
Fun fact: I can still do a split and yes, it usually surprises people.
